The News Taught Me Something! - HTTP vs. HTTPS

Have you been overwhelmed watching the news over the past two years? I know I have; however, every so often you stumble upon a headline that draws your attention. Today, that is exactly what happened to me!

As someone who likes to keep up with daily news, I have thought long and hard about the Newfoundland and Labrador hack. For those of you who are unaware of the circumstance, there was a cyberattack that hacked the N&L’s health system. Thousands of records of personal data is now out in the world for anyone to access. This the worst cyberattack that has ever occurred in Canadian history!

My main question working for AOS and our rapidly expanding IT environment, is what will it take to get people, and businesses to take a long hard look at ways to protect themselves in the cyber world before it’s too late and they’re the ones in hot water?

You must be wondering; how does this relate to the news headline I actually found helpful? I learned through different levels of web browser security we can help eliminate our chances of being attacked by hackers!

Http vs https:

Do you know the difference? I did not until the news educated me!

Hypertext Transfer Protocol vs. Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure.

Https is http with encryption! The ‘S’ standing for security!!!

What does that mean? Simply put; https is maximum security on both the client AND server side. It is used for transferring data over a network and is becoming increasingly more effective in protecting cyber attacks! It is another way to keep yourself/ your businesses / and your employees protected.

Don’t end up like Newfoundland & Labrador! The best way to prevent cyberattacks is to get a head start by using these accessible tools such as https and of course us, AOS, to help PREVENT attacks! Please visit the AOS technology page below to learn more about staying protected.
